SOUTH SHORE CULTURAL CENTER
OUTDOOR THEATER

Listed on Landmark Illinois' 2025 Most Endangered Historic Places list. The South Shore Cultural Center Advisory Council (SSCCAC) in partnership with the Chicago Park District, is fighting to restore this space to its former glory, transforming it back into a space for live outdoor performances, community gatherings, and cultural celebrations.

However, to secure the future of the outdoor theater, we need to hear from you. Your opinions, memories, and wishes are the foundation of this restoration effort. By taking just two minutes to share your opinions, you provide the undeniable proof of community support we need to secure funding, mobilize resources, and bring the stage back to life.

"Culture doesn’t just create change—it sustains it. Together, we are using culture as a catalyst to reclaim our narrative, collaboratively restore our historic landmarks, and transform our shared spaces."

Be part of the movement. This is your voice, your community, your future.

The South Shore Cultural Center Advisory Council, we believe that culture is more than a building, more that a performance. They are an important catalyst for how we show up for each other. It is the force that turns public parks into safe, thriving anchors for social cohesion. It's the platform that empowers our youth to tell their own stories, and the spotlight that elevates social enterprise in our neighborhood. But lasting change is never a solo act. The Advisory Council is driven by a profound culture of collaboration. It takes our partnership with the Chicago Park District, visionary organizers, passionate local leaders, and neighbors standing shoulder-to-shoulder to mobilize action. Whether we are rallying to preserve our cherished outdoor spaces or designing new pathways for neighborhood engagement, our greatest strength is our shared commitment to this historic space and the larger South Shore Community.

We are not just maintaining an architectural monument; we are building an institution for change. And we need your voice in the chorus.
